New Look!

From: Edith

Today, I have a new look, I lost my hair.

I thank everybody that keeps me in their prayers and have donate blood.

Please don't make me BEG...

We really appreciate the help we have received up to now. But we are still in a difficult situation, and need you help and support.

Edith has been receiving about a bag of blood per day. We really need for people to donate blood. Last post I said that people how had O+ could donate, well now I know that those with O- can also donate. If you don't know what blood type you are, call the blood bank 773-702-6247. They'll walk you through the process. If you are not the right blood type, you can donate Platelets. Please take a moment of your time to donate!

If you have already donate, THANK YOU very much. We really can't express our gratitude. Yet, we may need to ask you to donate again, 54 days from the last time you donated!
If you haven't, Please make the call...help save Edith!

Third Tuesday

Today mark the start of the third week since Edith was first diagnosed. While the first round of chemo seemed to go well, there's till much to contend.

Today, Edith needs 2 bags of blood. Last Sunday she received 1 bag. If this keeps up she may need one bag of blood per day.

I have to AGAIN stress the importance of blood and platelets donations. If you are O+, you can donated either Blood or Platelets. If you are not O+, you can donate Platelets.

Please call the Blood Bank at the University of Chicago Hospital @ 773-702-6247.

Weekend update

Edith's weekend started off looking good.
However Sunday was not a good day, She needed both blood and platelets.
By Monday she was running a fever, not feeling good.

This is another opportunity to stress the importance of both blood and platelets donations (one bag of each). Edith's blood type is O+. Platelets can be donated by anyone, no matter the blood type.

Memo from Edith

I was recently diagnose with leukemia, at a small hospital (Thorek Memorial Hospital) and the best thing about that, even thou it is small, it acted with very quick in diagnosing me and getting me ready to transfer to a big university hospital to seek advance medical treatment. All of the effort and professionalism the hospital showed to me by that small little family at Thorek will never be forgotten nor ignored.

At this time I am profoundly great full to the whole staff of employees that helped.

Sincerely Edith Vargas
